Falu and her Bollywood Orchestra take inspiration from North Indian classical music and contemporary pop and jazz as they perform songs set to Bollywood film clips from the ’60s through the ’80s, along with music from her first two albums. Bollywood, a tongue-in-cheek term describing the vast Bombay-based film industry, is known for its infectious music and exciting production numbers. Falu’s Indian vocals backed by a Western orchestra of strings, bass, guitar, and percussion with the Indian tabla, harmonium, and bansuri (Indian bamboo flute) bring the spirit of Bollywood to New York.
